Icenet Break-in Net
Frozen garden ponds pose an underestimated danger in winter—especially for children and pets. Icenet was developed as an additional safety measure to reduce the risk of sinking deeply through thin ice.
How the fabric Works
Icenet is a sturdy reinforcement net that is placed directly on the water’s surface before the first frost. Due to its specific gravity, it floats and, as temperatures drop, freezes into the forming ice cover.
By becoming embedded in the ice, the mesh acts as a tensile reinforcement: if the ice begins to break, it distributes localized forces across the surrounding ice surface. This can slow down or mitigate an abrupt, complete break-through, which can buy valuable seconds for self-rescue or rescue operations.
Safety Notice
The Icenet is a supportive aid and does not make brittle or thin ice safe to stand on or walk on. The net does not replace the duty of supervision or the need to avoid hazardous areas.
